High above this overcrowded place
A distant blackbird glides through space
And all he does is search for love.
Love is all that matters in the end.
Whatever time I have to spend
will be with you forever true.
Love is the oldest secret of the universe,
Warm as the touch of two innocent lovers,
When they discover that
Now is all we really know;
The past and future come and go;
Because they do,
I’ll stay with you.

In sending us your Son who gave his life for us.
We pray to you, today, for Albert and Charlene:
That Jesus Christ be with them

He who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever more.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
Reading of the first letter of Saint John (4, 7-16) byto be announced.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. This is the word of the Lord.
All reply: We give thanks to God.
Responsorial Psalm103 “Bless the Lord, O my soul ” by Chanoine Henri Carol
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and do not forget all his benefits—
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the Pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good as long as you live
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The congregation stands.
“Alléluia” from the Jubilé by Jean-Paul Lécot
“He who lives in love, lives in God, and God in him.”
The Deacon: May the Lord be with you.
All reply: And with you.
The Deacon: † The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John (2, 1-11)
All reply: Glory to you, Lord.
The Deacon:
There was a wedding feast in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus had also been invited to the wedding with his disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim. And he said to them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast." So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now." This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
The Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord
All reply: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!

INTRODUCTORY ADDRESS
The witnesses stand on either side of the Bride and Groom.
The Archbishop addresses the Bride and Groom in these words:
My dear Prince Albert and Charlene,
You have come together in this church so that the Lord may seal and strengthen your decision to marry in the presence of the Church’s minister, your families and the people of Monaco.
Christ abundantly blesses this love. He has already consecrated you in baptism and now he enriches and strengthens you by a special sacrament so that you may assume the duties of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity.
And so, in the presence of the Church, I ask you to state your intentions.
Then he questions them on their obligations as Christian husband and wife:
Albert and Charlene, we have heard the word of God,
Which has revealed the grandeur of human love and of marriage.
Marriage assumes that the couple has come here freely and without reservation to give yourselves to each other in marriage,
To love and honour each other as man and wife for the rest of your lives,
To accept children lovingly from God and bring them up according to the law of Christ and his Church.
He addresses himself to the couple, who each reply separately:
Albert and Charlene, is this the manner in which you want to live your wedded life?
The Bride and Groom (separately):
Yes.
EXCHANGE OF VOWS
The Archbishop invites the Bride and Groom to take each other’s hands and exchange their vows:
In order that you be united by Christ, and that your love, transformed by him, will become a visible sign of God’s love, before the Church assembled here, join your hands, and declare your consent before God and his Church.
The Archbishop:
Albert, Alexandre, do you take Charlene, Lynette for your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?
The Groom:
I do.
The Archbishop:
Charlene, Lynette, do you take Albert, Alexandre for your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?
The Bride:
I do.
RECEIPT OF VOWS
The Archbishop places his right hand on the joined hands of the couple and says:
You have declared your consent before the Church. May the Lord in his goodness strengthen your consent and fill you both with his blessings.
What God has joined, men must not divide.
Then he invites the congregation:
Let us come together now in silence and think of what God has done for Prince Albert and Princess Charlene.
BLESSING OF THE RINGS
The Archbishop blesses the rings of the couple:
Our Lord God,
You who have come together with us through Jesus Christ,
Bless † now these rings
So they may be a symbol for Charlene and Albert
of their fidelity,
and always remind them of their love.
EXCHANGE OF RINGS
The Archbishop will pass the ring to Prince Albert so he can place it on his wife's ring finger and he says:
Albert, take this ring as a sign of your love and your fidelity to Charlene.
Prince Albert replies: Amen
The Archbishop gives the ring to Princess Charlene so she can place it on her husband's ring finger and he says:
Charlene, take this ring as a sign of your love and your fidelity to Albert.
Princess Charlene replies: Amen

PREFACE
The Archbishop: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
All: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
The Archbishop:
Truly, it is right to render you glory, to offer you the song of our praise,
To you, our Father and our God.
Because you created man and woman in your image, and you placed in their hearts
The love which holds them together so they may become one;
Through the pains and the joys of their lives,
In the weariness of daily life and in its marvels,
You tell them that you are near:
Through the communion of their love and their destiny, you magnify in them your own life,
Until the day when you fulfil all their hopes, in Jesus Christ, your beloved Son;
And now that the mystery of your love reveals itself again before us,
We unite our prayer to that of all the living who are close to you,
To sing and proclaim:

EUCHARISITIC PRAYER II
The Archbishop continues:
Lord, you are holy indeed,
the fountain of all holiness.
Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body + and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Before he was given up to death, a death he freely accepted, he took bread and gave you thanks, He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:
"Take this, all of you, and eat it;
this is my body which will be given up for you."
When the supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:
"Take this, all of you, and drink from it;
this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me."
He shows the people the chalice, and then he says:
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith
All reply:
Christ has died, Christ is risen,
Our Saviour and our God: Come to us, Lord Jesus!
With the congregation he says:
In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you,
Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup.
We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you.
Monseigneur Dupuy continues:
Humbly, we beseech you that having partaken of the body and blood of Christ,
we be gathered together by the Holy Spirit as one body.
Lord, remember your Church throughout the world;
make us grow in your love, together with Benedict our Pope, Bernard, our bishop,
and all the clergy.
Monseigneur Careggio continues:
Strengthen in the grace of marriage Albert and Charlene whom you have led to the blessed day of their wedding:
Under your protection, that they retain throughout their lives the engagement that they have made before you.
Monseigneur Sankalé continues:
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence.
Monseigneur Giuliano continues:
Have mercy on us all;
make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin Mother of God, with the apostles, Saint Devote and all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages.
May we praise you in union with them, and give you glory through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
The Archbishop takes the paten with the wafer; the Deacon takes the chalice, and holds it up:
Through him, with him, and in him!
All sing: Amen.

In the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever!

All the glory and all the honour, forever and ever.

Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Saviour gave us:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done
on Earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Thatthrough the sacrament of the body and blood of Christ, he will unite in love the couple he has joined in this holy bond.

Then the priest extends his hands and continues:
Holy Father, creator of the universe,
maker of man and woman in your own likeness,
source of blessing for married life,
we humbly pray to you for Albert and Charlene
who today are united in this sacrament of marriage.
May your fullest blessing come upon them
so that they may together rejoice in your gift of married love
and enrich their home and your Church with their children.
Lord, may they both praise you when they are happy
and turn to you in their sorrows.
May they be glad that you help them in their work
and know that you are with them in their need.
May they pray to you in the community of the Church,
and be your witnesses in the world.
May they reach old age in the company of their friends,
and come at last to the kingdom of heaven.
