Whether of an artistic, cultural or sports nature, prestigious international events have naturally found their place in the Principality of Monaco.
The Arts and Culture
Culture is one of the Principality’s priority areas in accordance with the wishes of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover. The Government of Monaco allocates 5% of its budget to this field every year.
Leading venues for Culture: exceptional programmes of worldwide renown
- The New National Museum of Monaco, which opened its two Villas, Paloma and Sauber, in 2010
- The Monte Carlo Opera
- The Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra
- The Monte Carlo Ballet, which celebrated the Centenary of the Ballets Russes in 2009/2010
- The Oceanographic Museum, which celebrated its Centenary in 2010 with a unique exhibition of contemporary art by Damien Hirst. In 2011, the educational exhibition “Mediterranean”, for the preservation of biodiversity in the Mediterranean Sea.
- The Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, which re-opened its doors in December 2010 with a new scenographic presentation
- Tee Monaco Congress Centre: Grimaldi Forum, where are held art exhibitions, ballets, concerts and various shows throughout the year.

Sport
A sports hub, every year the Principality hosts various events on an international scale:
- The Formula 1 Grand Prix, since 1929
- The Monte Carlo Rally, which is celebrating its Centenary in 2011
- The Herculis athletics meeting (Diamond League)
- The Tennis Masters Series of Monte Carlo championship
Not to mention AS Monaco’s football team which has moved to league 1 in the French championship and the 89 associations and 39 sports federations that group together over 7,000 members.
