A unique and captivating country situated on the Mediterranean coast, the Principality of Monaco stretches over an area of 2 km², 40 hectares of which is reclaimed land from the sea. Monaco extends along a narrow strip, 4 km long, between the French and Italian Rivieras and enjoys a privileged climate throughout the year.

 

Monaco has only one commune, whose territory is the same as that of the State. Monaco is divided into 5 main districts:

 

  • Monaco-Ville
  • Monte Carlo
  • La Condamine
  • Fontvieille
  • Les Moneghetti.

 

 

A cosmopolitan State composed of 119 nationalities, the Principality has 35,646 inhabitants of whom 7,634 are Monegasque, 10,029 French and 6,596 Italian.

 

Every day the Principality welcomes 40,000 commuters, 75% of whom are French and just over 8% are Italian and has 5,078 companies on its territory.

 

The Principality can be reached by the European motorway network, which connects Monaco to the whole of Europe. Nice Côte d’Azur international airport is only 30 minutes away via the direct link onto the A8 motorway. A helicopter shuttle service that runs every twenty minutes also provides a connection to the airport.

 

Monaco’s underground railway station, opened in November 1999, is located on the Marseille-Ventimiglia line.

 

A modern maritime city, Monaco boasts two marinas - Port Hercule and Port de Fontvieille -both of which can accommodate vessels in various tonnage ranges. Port Hercule and Port de Fontvieille.
